Who we are
This website is run by Shahi Tea, a sole trader business based at Unit 46 Highgate Place, Moseley Road, Birmingham B12. We are the “controller” of the personal information described here. Questions? Email info@shahitea.co.uk or call 0121 446 6611.
What we collect
- When you send an enquiry through our website, by email or by phone: your name, business name, contact details, the type of business you run and anything you tell us in your message.
- When you become a customer: the contact, delivery and billing details we need to supply you and keep accounts.
- When you visit this website: our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and working.
We don’t use analytics, advertising or social media tracking on this website.
Why we use it
- To reply to you and send samples or pricing you’ve asked for, which is a step you’ve requested before entering into a contract, or our legitimate interest in answering business enquiries.
- To supply and invoice our customers under our contract with them.
- To run a secure website (server logs), which is our legitimate interest.
- To meet legal obligations, such as keeping financial records.
We never sell your information, and we won’t send you marketing emails unless you’ve agreed to receive them.
Who we share it with
- Our website hosting and email providers
- Google, which runs the reCAPTCHA spam check on our contact form
- Couriers, when we send you samples or orders
- Our accountants, and HMRC or other authorities where the law requires it
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don’t lead to an order: up to 24 months
- Customer and financial records: 6 years, as required by law
- Website server logs: a short period, set by our hosting provider
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, or stop or limit how we use it. You can also object to us using it for our legitimate interests. Email info@shahitea.co.uk and we’ll reply within one month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
